John Gilroy

John is the youngest of seven siblings in a tightly-knit family. His passion for law was significantly influenced by his father, Patrick D. Gilroy, who had a distinguished career as a Circuit Court Judge in Clackamas County, Oregon, for over thirty years. Two of John’s brothers are also in the legal profession. Now a father of five, John enjoys a variety of activities including golfing, skiing, fishing, playing basketball, hiking, and camping. Above all, he cherishes the time spent with his wife and children.
He completed his undergraduate studies in Political Science at Santa Clara University. Post-graduation, John seized an opportunity to work in Washington, D.C. as a legislative aide in Senator Robert Packwood’s (R-OR) office. This stint on Capitol Hill preceded his enrollment at the University of Oregon School of Law, where he obtained his law degree in 1998.
John’s legal career commenced at the Washington County District Attorney’s office, where he served as a Deputy District Attorney. This role at one of Oregon’s largest district offices exposed him to a wide range of criminal cases, including numerous DUII and felony DUII cases, providing him with a deep understanding of state prosecution strategies. This experience was crucial in his journey to co-found Gilroy & Napoli, LLC, focusing on drunk driving defense, criminal defense, and personal injury cases.
In 2014, John’s legal expertise was recognized when he was named to “The National Trial Lawyers: Top 100 Trial Lawyers” list, an exclusive group that invites only those attorneys who exhibit exceptional leadership qualities and maintain an excellent reputation among their peers in civil plaintiff or criminal defense trial law.
